Welcome to the Internet home of Clay and Karen Marquis
-- Marquis Modern, the on-line store offering an eclectic array of Mid Century
Modern furnishings, lighting, sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry. Currently
located in Western Connecticut, we began our adventure, in the mid-eighties,
collecting Art Deco and have evolved and gravitated toward Modern. As our
collection grew to vast proportions, the natural thing to do was open a retail
shop (pre Internet)…..and so we did…in 1990 on historic Charles
Street in Downtown Boston. Then, Ebay was born! We were one of the pioneer Ebay
sellers and continue to utilize that site.
Our desire to "personalize" our Internet selling leads us here.
Modernism is more than an interest to us. It is a way of life. We have recently
moved into an amazing 3,000 square foot modern house built in 1950. The pink
stucco and glass block structure is the perfect showcase.
